Location of Bolnisi region, phisical and historycal characteristic.

      Bolnisi is located in eastern Georgia, on the plain of Kvemo Kartli. From the south it borders on Armenia and passes through Loki mountein range , from the west it borders on dmanisi region , from the east and south-east it borders on marneuli region, from the north it is separated from Tetri Tcharo region by gorge of the river Ktsia. The major rivers of the regiom are the river Ktsis and its right tributary Mashapera.

      In 1227 near Bolnisi took place battle of army of Georgia against Khvarazmelebi, under the command of Jalaledini.

       Bolnisi Zion is one of the significant monument of Georgian architecture. Here exist 3 Georgian inscriptions, which are dated to Vcentury. Bolnisi Zion executed book activity. In X-XI centuries Ioane Bolniseli held activity in Bolnisi cathedral.

       From natural recources exisiting on this teritory, there are gold and turquoise particles, and from building materials: tuff and basalt.

Tkibuli

       Tkibuli territory includes active monastery monuments of Gelati and Motsameta, which refer to the Middle Ages. There are also Saint Cathedral in Kisieti, Zedaubani and Jonio cathedrals , and Mokhury fortress.

       Near Tkibuli took place Kchresilibattle. In 1757 invaded Turkhis army in Imereti in order to conquer the King Solomon I. One part of Osman encamped Khresili vallagy. In spire of the fact that at the biginning of the battle they had a certein advantage, finally Georgian won a victory.
